BERJAYA Food Bhd (BFood) posted a net profit of RM38.88 million for the quarter ended Dec 31, 2021 (4Q21), a jump of more than three times of the RM11.12 million in the previous year’s corresponding quarter, partly due to improved performance of the Kenny Rogers Roasters (KRR) chain of restaurants.

For the same quarter, BFood revenue increased 57% to RM272.75 million compared to RM174.1 million in the corresponding quarter of the previous year mainly due to higher same-store sales growth, particularly from the Starbucks outlets.

“While the year has been extremely challenging in many aspects, the vast improvement in our 2Q results is testament to the resilience of the various businesses within the group,” BFood CEO Datuk Sydney Lawrence Quays said in a statement.

The group posted earnings per share of 10.78 sen compared to higher per share of 3.14 sen in the similar quarter last year.

It also declared a second interim dividend of 1.0 sen single-tier dividend per share in respect of the financial year ending June 30, 2022 (FY22) to be payable on March 30, 2022. The total dividend declared for FY21 amounted to two sen single-tier dividend per share.

The group is primarily engaged in developing and operating the Starbucks Coffee brand in Malaysia and Brunei (developing and operating the KRR) chain in Malaysia, as well as Jollibean and various brands in Singapore.
