Theta Edge appointed to implement Jendela Phase 1 project

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 31  — Theta Edge Bhd’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Theta Telecoms Sdn Bhd, has been appointed as the designated universal service provider for the provision and implementation of the Jalinan Digital Negara (JENDELA) Phase 1 (Part 1) project.

The telecommunication engineering and communication service provider said its unit had accepted the notification for appointment issued by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission for the supply, delivery and installation of the tower structures and its ancillaries, in order to provide cellular services for 221 locations in the universal service targets for 14 clusters.

“The total project cost will be a maximum of RM154.36 million, inclusive of any applicable tax imposed by the government,” it said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia today.

Theta Edge, a member of the Tabung Haji group (which owns 30 per cent equity interest), said the project would be implemented over nine months from the date of acceptance of the notification (Jan 29, 2022).

It added that the project was expected to contribute positively to the group’s earnings for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2022.
