UDA Holdings Bhd is targeting a boost for business in the southern region (Johor Baru) through the launch of new property projects and shopping malls.

UDA chairperson Datuk Norliza Abdul Rahim said UDA continues to make strides in planning the best plan to develop business in the southern region, especially in terms of real estate and shopping malls in realising the desire to contribute to the country’s economic growth.

This year, UDA in the southern region will launch two new property projects namely Pisonia Ville and Areca Terrace.

UDA president and CEO Mohd Salem Kailany said UDA’s property business in the state of Johor always focuses on the needs of customers and UDA is confident that the two-storey terrace houses will be high in demand.

“In the middle of this year, UDA will offer 225 units of two-storey terrace residences through the launch of Pisonia Ville Package 2 (53 units) and Areca Terrace (172 units).”

“Pisonia Ville Package 2 and Areca Terrace will be developed in Bandar UDA Utama with freehold status. The 470-acre (190.2ha) township is strategically located next to the Perling Toll Road and surrounded by mature housing estates, as well as close to various important public amenities,” he said in a statement yesterday.

For the Angsana Johor Baru Mall, UDA is confident that the mall would continue to attract a large number of tourists, and remain a significant shopping destination. It also recorded a strong occupancy rate of over 90% last year.

To help business continuity, UDA also allocates RM3 million a year through the UDA Entrepreneur Incentive Programme aimed at encouraging new entrepreneurs to do business in UDA-owned shopping complexes.

Throughout this year, Angsana Johor Baru Mall will organise plenty exciting activities such as ‘Go-Kart’ motorsports, ‘Angsana Food Trucks Centre’, ‘Nursery & Landscaping’ and ‘Car Boot Sales’ bringing the visitors all necessities under one roof and boost business activities at the mall.

As an agency under Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (Medac), UDA also introduced a retail premise named ‘MARI Mart’, located at Level 2, Angsana Johor Baru Mall to help local entrepreneurs, especially Micro, small and medium entrepreneurs to market their products.

MARI Mart is a collaboration between UDA and TEKUN Corp and has marketed 2,000 products of micro, small and medium enterprise entrepreneurs since January 1.

The first MARI Mart opened in October of last year at Angsana Ipoh Mall, which is also one of UDA’s supervised shopping malls. This year, UDA plans to open two more MARI Marts to boost local entrepreneurship.

Norliza has also paid a visit to the Morten Walk project site in Kampung Morten, Melaka which is set to open in April 2022, offering 50 business spaces, primarily for SMEs.
