Proton is one of the official vehicles for 19th Asian Games

PROTON Holdings Bhd has been named one of the official vehicle brands of the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022, as part of the brands under the Geely Auto. In a statement yesterday, Proton said this recognition not only offers opportunities to support the largest multi-sports event in Asia but also further enhances prominence for Malaysia’s national car brand in markets across Asia. All of Proton’s current models — namely the Proton Persona, Iriz, Exora, Saga, X50 and X70 — will carry the title of Official Vehicle of the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022.

Raya Airways refutes rumours on acquisition

RAYA Airways Sdn Bhd has refuted claims of talks with AirAsia Group Bhd or any other parties regarding the acquisition of the company or any part of its businesses. In a statement yesterday, the air cargo carrier said an article published by a local news portal on Saturday had cited sources saying that AirAsia is in early discussions for the acquisition of Raya Airways to beef up its logistics business. “We would like to categorically state that the article is factually incorrect and misleading. We wish to assure all our stakeholders that Raya Airways’ operational and financial position is growing in strength,” it said in a statement yesterday. — Bernama

Chooi is substantial shareholder of EcoFirst

DATUK Michael Chooi Yoey Sun, the co-founder of kitchen cabinet manufacturer Signature International Bhd, has emerged as a substantial shareholder of property company, EcoFirst Consolidated Bhd with a 5.15% stake as of yesterday. Chooi acquired 20 million shares in the open market in the last 14 days. He further acquired another 40 million shares via an off-market transaction through Wawasan Fokus Sdn Bhd. EcoFirst closed at 56 sen yesterday with a market capitalisation of RM659 million.

MDFT secures deal extension for FPSO Kikeh

MISC Bhd announced that the Malaysian Deepwater Floating Terminal (Kikeh) Ltd (MDFT), a joint venture company between MISC and SBM Holdings Inc SA, had recently entered into an agreement with PTTEP Sabah Oil Ltd to extend the FPSO Kikeh Charter Contract for six years beginning January 2022 until January 2028. FPSO Kikeh is located in Block K, offshore Sabah, Malaysia. MISC and SBM own 51% and 49% of the equity in MDFT respectively.
