THE Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia Ministry (Motac) will be extending the relaxation of regulatory requirements for tour operators licensed under the Tourism Industry Act 1992 (Act 482).

“This is part of the effort to help alleviate the burdens and problems faced by tourism enterprises and companies affected by the outbreak of Covid-19,” Motac said in a statement yesterday.

It added that the relaxation will include extending the flexibility in terms of premises for tourism companies from Jan 1, until June 30, 2022, and the permission to conduct other businesses in their premises.

Apart from that, for the rental period of business premises at co-sharing office spaces, an extension is also given for the same period.

Previously, Motac announced that the exemption was valid until Dec 31, 2021.

The ministry said this relaxation is expected to benefit a total of 5,467 licensed tour operators who conduct travel agency businesses.
