Sarawak Polls: Abdul Taib Mahmud casts his vote in Satok

KUCHING, Dec 18 — The Yang Dipertua Negeri of Sarawak Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud (picture) cast his ballot for the Satok state seat in the 12th Sarawak election at the Satok Sports Complex here at 11.40 am.

He arrived at the sports complex, which is among the polling centres for the Satok constituency, accompanied by his wife, Toh Puan Ragad Kurdi Taib.

Earlier, Ragad had voted at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Tun Abang Haji Openg, Petra Jaya, which is among the voting centres for the Demak Laut state seat.

The Satok seat is being contested by Datuk Ibrahim Baki of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), Datuk Nor Irwan Ahmat Nor of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and Awang Badele Awang Ali of Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK).

The Satok seat has 14,314 registered voters.

Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah and Sarawak Affairs) Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib also voted at the Satok Sports Complex polling centre, where state police commissioner Datuk Aidi Ismail was present to monitor the voting process.
