SAMAIDEN Group Bhd has secured a RM98.2 million contract to develop rooftop solar photovoltaic systems with a total capacity of 39 megawatt-peak for an international textile manufacturer, Ramatex Group of Companies.

In a statement today the company said The Letter of Award (LOA) was awarded by Ramatex Textiles Industrial Sdn Bhd to the Group’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Samaiden Sdn Bhd, which is involved in the engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning (EPCC) of solar PV systems and power plants.

Under the LOA, Ramatex will appoint Samaiden as the EPCC contractor for the development of rooftop solar PV systems for all its six factories in Batu Pahat, Johor with a total capacity of 39 MWp.

The project has a contract value of RM98.2 million, with EPCC works expected to commence upon signing of the LOA and ready for commercial operations by third quarter of year 2022.

“With the services we provide, we aim to support Ramatex in reducing its carbon emissions and electricity usage. This eco-friendly initiative would transform Ramatex into a sustainable textile manufacturer, enabling them to attract a wider pool of customers and elevate their manufacturing rates,” said Group Managing Director of Samaiden Group, Chow Pui Hee.

Upon complete installation of the solar PV systems, the project is anticipated to generate approximately up to 52,745 MWh per year of green energy, reducing the equivalent of approximately 33,704 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in the first year and more than 670,000 tonnes of C02 over the next 20 years.
