Saravanan: MoU on Bangladeshi workers intake to be signed soon

THE government has agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Expatriates ‘Welfare & Overseas Employment, Republic Bangladesh for the recruitment of Bangladeshi workers in Malaysia.

Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri M Saravanan (picture) said the Bangladeshi workers’ admission will be implemented immediately after the signing of the MoU.

According to him, the recruitment of these workers will open to various sectors namely plantations, agriculture, manufacturing, services, mining and quarrying, construction and domestic servants.

In addition to that, he said the Cabinet has also agreed that the recruitment of foreign employees is open to all sectors, apart from the plantation sector has been previously agreed.

“With regard to the safety measure, the Human Resources Ministry will co-operate with the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the National Security Council to refine Standing Operating Procedures (SOP) for admission of foreign workers,” he said in a statement today.

Aside from that, the cabinet has decided to postpone the implementation of the multi-tier levy (Multi-tier Levy) from January 1 to July 1, 2022 in order to relieve the employer’s burden.
