This year’s edition of Malaysia Top ECM breaks record with RM47m sales

THIS year’s edition of the Malaysia Top E-Commerce Merchant Awards (Top ECM) has surpassed previous records with RM47 million in sales and 358,609 orders.

This is a 28% increase from last year’s sales at RM36.6 million and 264,284 orders.

The sixth edition of the Top ECM was launched on Oct 15 saw the highest submissions with 213 applications and 181 making the shortlist.

This is a 31.5% increase from the previous year’s record with 162 submissions and 123 out of the total submissions shortlisted.

Selangor Executive Councillor Datuk Seri Teng Chang Kim (picture) said e-commerce merchants have continuously demonstrated creativity, innovation and good business sense while building a rapport with their customers.

“I am happy to note that this year’s edition of the Top ECM saw 213 merchants applying for this one and only e-commerce competition in Malaysia and 181 qualified to participate in the competition,” he said in his speech during the award ceremony recently.

“From the 14-day Online Sales Contest, RM47 million was generated in sales with over 358,609 orders. This is a record-breaking figure since the Top ECM was launched in 2015.

“This is a 28% increase from last year’s sales at RM36.6 million and 264,284 orders. This has also surpassed the initial target o f RM40 million in sales and has definitely demonstrated the strong growth of e-commerce in Malaysia of around 30% to 40% in the past one year,” he added.

Winners of this year’s Top ECM will be bringing home cash prizes with a total worth of RM40,500 sponsored by Affin Bank Bhd.

Store N Go Sdn Bhd emerged as the champion of the latest edition of the Top ECM, going home with RM12,000 in cash, a trophy and a certificate, as well as media exposure.

The brand owner for baby’s clothing Comel Baby clinched the top spot for having secured the highest cumulative points in relation to judges’ marks and the number of sales and orders.

Hardware hypermarket SLL Machinery Hardware Sdn Bhd and SNS Network (M) Sdn Bhd — which owns iTworld, an authorised Apple reseller — secured the second and third spots respectively, bringing home RM8,000 and RM5,000, a trophy and a certificate each.

Securing the fourth to tenth spots are SPF Home Deco Sdn Bhd, DirectD Retail & Wholesale Sdn Bhd, Pokoktua Pallet Houz, Shellys Marketing Sdn Bhd, PTT Outdoor (MY) Sdn Bhd, Illegear Sdn Bhd and Livinggears Malaysia Sdn Bhd. They will be bringing home RM1,500 in cash each, as well as trophies and certificates.
