Matta Fair to focus on recovery and travel safety


THE safety of reopening the tourism industry remains paramount in light of the industry reopening as well as the increasing demand from locals to travel by year-end.

“86% of Malaysians, and the number is quite equal within the other countries as well, really want to travel to reconnect with their loved ones, and an astonishing 87% of them need a breakthrough after this period.”

“With all this pent-up demand, we need to be prepared because, as we encourage travel to resume, we must be disciplined to ensure that we comply with the SOP,” Malaysia Airlines Berhad (MAB) Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer Lau Yin May said in a press conference yesterday.

MAB is the official airline for the upcoming MATTA Fair to take place from November 20 until November 21, 2021, at the World Trade Centre (WTC), Kuala Lumpur.

MAB, together with its sister companies, Firefly and MASwings, will work closely with participating agents to provide deals and promotions to MATTA Fair visitors; offering attractive discounts of up to 35% off airfares to all holiday destinations in Malaysia and selected international destinations within MAB’s network.

Such offers will be available at the event for immediate travel until June 30, 2022.

Matta honorary treasurer Nigel Wong said the upcoming fair, will be on the industry’s recovery and travel safety.

“It’s about the recovery of the industry. It signals a return to some form of normalcy in travel right now, an exciting step forward. The industry needs to recover and get back to business. This is a great opportunity to showcase the best of what Malaysia can offer,” he said.

“So for those travellers who are going to be travelling domestically, do keep an eye out for some of our travel state partners. These are hotels, travel agents, convention centers, and, of course, Malaysia Airlines groups who have actually bonded together under the Travel Safe Alliance of Malaysia to provide us with travel safety itineraries and programmes for both domestic and, hopefully, in the very near future, inbound travellers,” Nigel added.

Lau said that MAB has received a 7-star rating for Covid-19 health and safety measures from AirlineRatings after implementing the #FlyConfidently program, reaffirming its commitment to providing a safe journey for its guests.

Nigel also said that there will be35% discount on airfares, Enrich Points, limited-edition merchandise from Malaysia Airlines, Firefly, MASwings, and Enrich, the chance to win a business class upgrade from MAB with every purchase of an economy class ticket, as well as giving away a total of ten return tickets for the Buyers’ Contest to various locations in and outside of Malaysia.

Firefly, the sister company of Malaysia Airlines, is offering six return complimentary vouchers to any Firefly domestic route, while MASwings is offering five return tickets to any of MASwings’ destinations.
