MINGGU Saham Digital (MSD) takes off today with various programmes to educate Malaysians on investment and financial planning.

The seven-day event by Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) features over 70 interactive, entertaining, educational and engaging content to encourage Malaysians of all ages to achieve financial independence.

MSD also has in store a series of interactive workshops and seminars, masterclasses on investment, and a variety of other educational and entertaining activities.

Amanah Saham Nasional Bhd CEO and ED Mohammad Hussin said MSD is a virtual platform for the public to learn from experts on the importance of saving and investing for a secure future.

“This is the second year that the event is held fully digitalised to reach Malaysians of all ages,” he said in an interview yesterday.

Mohammad explained the idea for the event to go fully virtual came about even before the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak, citing the main reason was due to Malaysians’ familiarity and high usage of social media such as Facebook, TikTok, Instagram and Twitter, among others.

“This way, anyone who wants to learn about investment and finances can simply log in and enjoy our programmes. There are many interactive activities and a live streaming of the event will allow us to reach out to a much wider audience.

“We want to make sure that everyone understands the importance of financial planning and PNB’s role in that.

“For instance, people are talking about private mandates now on social media and that is something that we will be covering in detail, such as the risks and benefits of private mandates, and the various types of investments that they can explore,” he added.

Partners of the event include Malayan Banking Bhd, Sime Darby Plantation Bhd and UMW Holdings Bhd, as well as various organisations and institutions.

Last year’s MSD garnered 7.5 million unique views via its official Facebook page, while its website recorded 11.5 million impressions.

From Nov 17 to Nov 23, MSD 2021 will be broadcasted daily from 12.30pm to 10pm through its official Facebook page and YouTube channel, featuring over 70 edutainment programmes and intriguing conversations in a series of talk shows and webinars by subject matter experts, key industry players, personalities and celebrities.

Visitors will also have a chance to win more than RM500,000 in prizes via the various activities in MSD 2021.
