Maintenance cost for 14 ministries amounted to RM4m

THE maintenance of 14 ministries from 2020 until now has cost the government a total of RM4 million.

In a written reply yesterday, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Special Functions) Datuk Dr Abdul Latiff Ahmad gave a breakdown of the cost incurred as a response to a question from Teluk Intan MP Nga Kor Ming who requested for the figure.

According to the list, repair works for the Prime Minister’s Department totalled to RM1.07 million, which is the largest amount from the total cost.

The second highest amount came from the Ministry of National Unity which totalled to RM589,618, followed by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs at RM425,130.

Works on the Ministry of Plantation Industries and Commodities cost RM398,604 while the Federal Territories Ministry and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation had maintenance work amounted to RM392,202 and 365,240, respectively.

The Finance Ministry had cost the government RM227,375 for its uplift and for the Human Resources Ministry, the cost came up to RM205,191. The cost for the Defence Ministry, and Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry stood at RM123,864 and RM118,793, respectively.

The amount for the Ministry of Health stood at RM49,242, followed by the Youth and Sports Ministry which amounted to RM17,225.

Two ministries that had repair works which totalled to less than RM10,000 were the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Ministry at RM9,612 and the Ministry of Tourism and Culture at RM8,500.
