QL RESOURCES Bhd owned convenience store chain FamilyMart has set a new benchmark with its launch of a “food superstore” yesterday.

In conjunction with its fifth anniversary, FamilyMart has expanded its ready-to-eat food concept by introducing an all-new upstream food production, with a wide selection of convenient frozen meals that match the variety needs of its customers.

QL Resources ED Chia Lik Khai stated that there are over 100 products in this new concept for customers to enjoy their favourite FamilyMart foods such as ready-to-eat side dishes, frozen meals and desserts.

“At FamilyMart, we believe there is something for everyone, and we will continue to grow our food offering lists for our loyal customers,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Bringing the spirit of innovation and evolution of the “konbini” concept, the stores are elevated to suit contemporary environments, match the urban lifestyle, while maintaining FamilyMart’s identity.

Chia added that the company will maintain its uniqueness as the leading freshly made, ready-to-eat food chain production, bring convenience to the consumers and most importantly, with halal certification.

“This is the key differentiator between us and the other concept store chains in the country,” he said.

As the business is recovering from the pandemic, FamilyMart is now focusing on expanding its branches to cover more locations in Peninsular Malaysia.

“We are set to open 20 more concept stores by the end of this year with at least one store in each state where FamilyMart is already present,” he said.

The first “food superstore” concept stores are located in Sri Petaling and Bandar Puteri Puchong.

To date, FamilyMart has over 250 stores nationwide including the FamilyMart mini kiosks.

“With the fairly big market, the new branches will also open job opportunities for Malaysians as the new outlets will require more workers.

“As for a long-term target, we are aiming to open 1,000 branches by 2026, and that on average can create thousands of job opportunities for Malaysians,” Chia said.

Adopting Japan’s earthy ambiance, he added that FamilyMart will gradually upgrade its concept store decoration from time to time for customers’ maximum satisfaction, convenience and inspiration.
