The Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry (MOTAC) has allocated a total of RM61 million to assist tourism entrepreneurs in Terengganu.

This is part of the government’s efforts to recognise and appreciate the continuous efforts of the tourism industry in fighting Covid-19 and helping to restore the sector.

The financial assistance has been awarded to 30 recipients through the Financial Assistance for Tourism Entrepreneurs ceremony in Terengganu which is the third initiative after Langkawi and Kuching, Sarawak.

The recipients were 10 tour guides, 10 travel operating business and travel (TOBTAB) companies, six spas and foot massage (PUK) operators as well as five homestay operators who represent the thousands of other industry players.

MOTAC has also introduced several non-financial initiatives for companies and licensed tour guides such as license fee exemption, compound discount of 40%, and extension of compound payment period for those who failed to renew their licence until November 15 this year.

The ministry hoped that the relaxation can restore the entrepreneurs’ spirit and inspire all to restore the tourism industry back to its pre-Covid-19 glory.
