KUALA LUMPUR – The Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) will organise the Industry Excellence Award 2020 (AKI 2020) night tomorrow (Nov 2, 2021) to recognise Malaysian companies that demonstrate a high level of productivity, resilience and competitiveness.

AKI 2020 will culminate in the presentation of the much-coveted Prime Minister’s Award by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob who will officiate the event.

In a statement today, MITI said the Malaysia Business Excellence Framework (MBEF) developed by the Malaysia Productivity Corporation, an agency under the ministry, is used as the benchmark for selecting the award winners.

“MITI, as the main entity spearheading this agenda, views initiatives like AKI as an industry transformation driver in line with the highly dynamic progress of global mega trends,” said Senior Minister and MITI minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.

The award is one of MITI’s initiatives introduced in 1991 as the highest honour for top-performing industry players to in the manufacturing and manufacturing-related services sectors.

AKI is organised once every two years and this year marks the 27th edition featuring 11 awards.
