THE government has allocated RM52.6 billion for the Education Ministry (MoE), the biggest allocation in Budget 2022, Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz said in the tabling today.
The second biggest allocation after the MoE is for the Health Ministry (MoH) at RM32.4 billion for operating and development expenditure.
Tengku Zafrul said an additional RM4 billion will be allocated specifically for Covid-19 management and enhancement of public healthcare capacity.
Meanwhile, RM14.5 billion is allocated for the Higher Education Ministry.
The government will allocate a tablet for all B40 students in higher education which will total to RM 450 million and benefit 600,000 students, said Tengku Zafrul.
Discount for PTPTN repayment will begin on Nov,1, 2021 until April 30, 2022.
15% off for those who make full loan repayment, 12% off is given to those who settle half of their loan, while 10% discount will be given to those who finance their student loan via salary deduction or scheduled debit.
To address the issue of employment, Malaysia Short Term Employment programme aims to provide 80,000 job opportunities under the programme where 50,000 vacancies will be made available in the public sector while the remaining 30,000 will be made at government-linked companies (GLCs), he said.
