Ancom gets nod to acquire Nylex’s assets and liabilities 

ANCOM Bhd received approval from shareholders at its EGM for the proposed acquisition of all the assets and liabilities of Nylex (M) Bhd for a purchase consideration of RM179.3 million (RM1 per Nylex share). In a statement yesterday, the company said it currently holds a 50.3% stake in Nylex, the net amount payable by the group will be RM96.7 million following the set-off arrangement, which is for the 49.7% stake it does not own. The acquisition will be satisfied via cash payment of RM50 million and the issuance of 31.1 million new Ancom’s shares valued at RM46.7 million (fixed at RM1.50 per Ancom share). 

Axiata appoints new group chief strategy and tech officer 

AXIATA Group Bhd appointed Thomas Hundt as its group chief strategy and technology officer with immediate effect. In a statement yesterday, Axiata said Thomas will be pivotal in driving the group-wide innovation and technological advancement in the region and beyond, and will be instrumental in securing new and long-term growth opportunities as the group strengthens its top management to deliver its ambitious digital transformation agenda. 

Sime Darby Property launches Hamilton City 

SIME Darby Property Bhd has launched Hamilton City in Nilai, Negri Sembilan, to further entrench its commitment to develop the new growth corridor in Malaysia Vision Valley (MVV) 2.0. The 1102ha Hamilton City is a full-fledged managed industrial township in MVV 2.0, focusing on medium to heavy manufacturing-based industries to drive direct investments into the development, as well as to generate socio-economic improvement in the township. The project is expected to create job opportunities for the population of 740,000 living within and around the township. 

Techna-X partners ENBSB for bird’s nest harvesting 

TECHNA-X Bhd has signed a memorandum of understanding with East Nest Borneo Sdn Bhd (ENBSB) to collaborate on the development of technology-enabled Smart Bird Houses and Caves Projects. This being the first smart agricultural suite in vertical farming for Techna-X, will increase the group’s key advantage in the Internet of Thing’s (IoT) space and spur growth in the smart agriculture industry in Malaysia and worldwide, the company said in a statement yesterday. Techna-X is focused on IoT for agriculture given its track record for having completed IoT systems in almost 60,000ha of palm oil plantation land in Malaysia, Sumatra, Kalimantan and South America.
