MoH spends RM8.13mil to manage Covid-19 deaths in hospitals

The Health Ministry (MoH) spent a total of RM8.13 million from last year until Sep 10, 2021 to procure the necessary equipment for hospitals to manage the bodies of those who have died from Covid-19.

Deputy Health Minister II Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang told the Dewan Negara today that of the total, RM6.5 million was used for the purpose of storing the bodies at the forensics department in all public hospitals nationwide.

“In terms of yearly breakdown, RM828,000 was used for the purpose last year while this year it totalled to RM7.2 million,” he said in a response to a question from senator Datuk Juhainis Abd Aziz.

The death toll in Malaysia increased to 28,138 with 78 new deaths reported, out of which 14 were brought-in-dead (BID) cases.

As of yesterday there were 5,680 BID cases reported nationwide.

Cumulatively, the country has 2,297,289 confirmed cases since the pandemic outbreak in January last year.
