Interstate travel will be allowed for individuals who have completed Covid-19 vaccination effective tomorrow, October 11, as 90% of Malaysia’s adult population are already vaccinated.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said there will no longer be roadblocks at state borders for the purpose of interstate travel.
“Police may, however, do random MySejahtera checks on travellers at R&R stations,” he said in a press conference today.
Although not compulsory, Ismail Sabri also encouraged those going back to their hometowns to take Covid-19 tests before travelling.
“It is not compulsory, but take it as a duty to protect our loved ones,” he added.
The Prime Minister assured that this relaxation will not be retracted if there is a rise in Covid-19 cases.
“Take Langkawi for example. When there was a spike of cases in a hotel, we closed the hotel, not the whole of Langkawi,” he said.
Additionally, Malaysians who wish to travel abroad no longer need the MyTravelPass, also effective October 11.
