THE number of Covid-19 deaths in Malaysia remains high despite the decline in active and new cases.
As of Monday, a total of 258 deaths were reported, pushing the total fatalities due to the virus to 25,695.
Out of the new deaths, 75 were brought-in-dead (BID) cases, bringing the number of total BID cases to 5,097.
For the first time in months yesterday, the number of new cases dipped below 11,000, as 10,947 were detected.
This led to a decline in active cases by 5,729 to 177,560.
According to Health DG Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, up to 862 patients are in the ICU, with 378 require the respiratory aid.
A total of 19 new clusters were identified, with nine from workplace, eight from the community and one each from the detention centre and high-risk group.
There are 1,165 active clusters in the country. –TMR
