THE number of domestic violence cases in the country as of August this year stood at 4,905.
Citing data from the Royal Malaysian Police, Women, Family and Community Development minister Datuk Seri Rina Harun said the total number of cases recorded since the pandemic began in March 2020 until August this year is 9,015.
“Among the initiatives we have for victims to seek help is Talian Kasih which acts as a single point of contact for them to file their complaints and get support,” she said in a response to a question from Parit MP Datuk Mohd Nizar Zakaria in the Dewan Rakyat today .
According to data from Talian Kasih, 2,248 complaints were recorded from January until August this year while 2,286 complaints were made from March until December 2020.
