THE Malaysia Digital Economy Corp (MDEC) and FinTech Association of Malaysia (FAoM) will partner a fintech training programme, 10×1000 Tech for Inclusion (10×1000) to recruit 200 Flex learners locally to embark on the programme in October 2021.

10×1000 recently launched its latest global programme — Fintech Foundation Programme Flex, an online certificate programme providing practitioners with the mindset, knowledge and skills to become drivers of digital economic growth.

Speaking about the collaboration, MDEC Tech Ecosystems and Globalisation VP Gopi Ganesalingam (picture) said in a statement fintech is identified among five industry priorities in MDEC’s “Digital Investments Future5 Strategy” to advance the nation’s digital economy in line with the Malaysia Digital Economy Blueprint.

“The ongoing digitalisation of the sector is expected to have a high impact on investment, jobs and contribution to GDP. This collaboration with 10×1000 to provide Flex programme in Malaysia will help further strengthen our digitally-skilled talent pool and contribute to our vision of driving Malaysia to become a globally competitive digital nation,” he added.

“We are delighted to join hands with MDEC and FAoM to bring the 10×1000 training platform to learners worldwide, as we seek innovative approaches to meeting a common goal of bridging the digital skills gap,” said Ant Group chairman and CEO Eric Jing owner and operator of digital payments platform Alipay.

“I am excited that learners from 10×1000’s new Flex programme will gain the fintech knowledge they need to support their communities, and help bring us closer to meeting the UN Sustainable Development Goals. “

MDEC plans to recruit Flex learners via collaboration with ecosystem partners and also state digital agencies such as Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corp, Digital Penang and Digital Perak, while members of FAoM are eligible to apply for Flex programme via the association.

The partnership with MDEC and FAoM is part of 10×1000’s ongoing effort to deepen its collaborations with partners worldwide.
