AEON Co (M) Bhd’s wellness arm — Aeon Wellness — is on a digital transformation journey and expanding its product offering to become more resilient in this new normal.
Aeon’s COO Sunny Setiawan (picture) said the Covid-19 pandemic has been a great challenge but served as catalyst for the group to quantum leap its digital journey and be more creative in serving customers.
“We need to know not only how to recover but also how to rebuild the infrastructure. In addition to digitalisation being our key focus where purchases can be made online via myaeon.com.my, we also go the extra mile by providing Personal Shopper Service, Pick Up Service and Aeon Rider Home Delivery,” Sunny, who also oversees the operations of Aeon Wellness, told The Malaysian Reserve.
Aeon Wellness is a growing division and an integral part of Aeon group which is more known for its major supermarket chain and financing business, Aeon Credit Service (M) Bhd.
The wellness business is positioning itself to become the go-to destination for all things health and beauty.
First established in 2006 and launched at the Mid Valley Megamall, Aeon Wellness has since expanded to over 65 outlets across Malaysia.
It has evolved into an all-inclusive pharmacy chain offering an extensive selection of products and professional consultation services.
Sunny said in the fourth quarter of 2021 (4Q21), Aeon Wellness will adopt an e-prescription system and will integrate into the myAeon world app.
“Our target groups are basically customers who need medicine supply, especially refill medicine for chronic diseases such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol and high blood glucose.
“We will strengthen our service standards, product offerings and the upkeep of our existing outlets for a pleasant shopping experience for our customers,” she added.
Sunny said Aeon Wellness sees an uplift in spending by consumers on healthy living, lifestyle and personal hygiene products.
“Consumers are more concerned about their health and personal hygiene as the demand towards that category is continuing to be in the uptrend since the last one year.
“We will continuously focus on providing a good diet and supplement for the management of the three highs (high blood pressure, high cholesterol and high glucose level),” she said.
She added that the outlook for the retail industry in 2021 is still positive and business has been improving for the last couple of months.
“However, it has yet to reach its pre-Covid-19 level, which we believe will only happen once the country reaches full vaccination of the population to allow for the gradual lifting of restrictions,” she said.
Aeon Wellness focuses on three elements — wellness and healthcare for senior citizens; halal beauty products; and Japanese products catering to a niche segment.
Sunny said Aeon Wellness will continue to offer trusted and quality Japanese products and halal products that are in demand by the Muslims customers.
“Every month, we will bring an exclusive product to Malaysia, for example, Ashirira Foot Relax and Detox Sheet, Gokayama Series and JT ACE Wahadabisen Herbal Face Pack — Hatomugi.
“We also offer the latest product that fits in the new normal such as the Natural Aroma Mask Refresher and Speech Bubble Sticker Patch that are used to refresh the stuffy air in the mask,” she said.
