King and Queen make special visit to UK

THE Yang di-Pertuan Agong AlSultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah are making a special visit to the UK from today until Sept 27.

The special visit symbolises the importance of the close relationship between Malaysia and the UK manifested at the highest governmental level of the country, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement today.

“The visit also represents His Majesty’s concern for the wellbeing of Malaysians as well as the investment performance of the country’s interests in the UK,” it said.

The King and Queen are scheduled to visit Battersea Power Station in London, a joint venture between Sime Darby Property Bhd, SP Setia Bhd, the Employees Provident Fund and Permodalan Nasional Bhd.

They will also attend a meeting at the Malaysian High Commission in London on Sept 24 involving Malaysian entrepreneurs, academics, students and community leaders.

“On Sept 25, the King will visit the Tun Abdul Razak Research Centre, a world leading rubber industry research and development centre owned by the Malaysian Rubber Board.

“He will also meet UK Chief of the Defence Staff General Nicholas Carter to discuss the defence cooperation between the two countries,” it added.
