Homegrown e-wallet Boost has expanded its insurance offerings with the launch of CarProtect, a car insurance plan with comprehensive coverage for private cars.

Its CEO Sheyantha Abeykoon said the new car insurance offers customisable coverage and new in-app emergency button to gain 24 hours a day, seven days a week access to car assistance.

The insurance plan is underwritten by Great Eastern General Insurance (Malaysia) Bhd.

“CarProtect offers customers protection in your pocket, alongside a seamless and convenient way to customise their car insurance plan best suited to their needs.

“Additionally, customers can also renew their road tax at the same time and have it conveniently delivered to their doorstep,” he said in a statement today.

Abeykoon noted that as an added safety feature, Boost has incorporated a built-in emergency button for CarProtect customers which gives them all day access to car assistance.

He further added that from now until Dec 31, the first 5,000 users to purchase their car insurance with Boost will receive RM100 cashback in the Boost Partner Wallet, whereas subsequent users will receive RM50 cashback.

The cashback in the Boost Partner Wallet can be used to pay for any Boost transaction.

CarProtect can be easily accessed via the ‘Insurance’ button on the Boost app homepage or the ‘Do More’ tab.

Users can purchase CarProtect in four easy steps –

1) key in car details to get a quotation;

2) customise the desired coverage by selecting relevant add-ons;

3) fill in car owner details; and

4) pay.

Once purchased, all insurance coverage details are easily accessible in the Boost app for quick reference.
