The Ministry of Health received a total of 166,869 calls seeking emotional support from its Psychosocial Support Helpline from January this year up until September.
Deputy health minister II Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang said the total calls received this year as of September is higher than the calls received for the whole of last year which stood at 44,061.
“The cumulative calls received since the pandemic began showed that 82.2% of them required emotional support and counselling.
“From March 2021 until September 2021, 956 cases of 0.4% of the total involved mental health issues that were referred to a psychiatrist,” he said in the Dewan Rakyat today.
