SOUTH Korean superstar Hyun Bin (picture) has been made Lazada Group LazMall’s first regional brand ambassador.

Born as Kim Tae-pyung, the actor will kickstart LazzMall’s third anniversary and 9.9 Biggest Brands Sale with a short film that captures the imaginations of fans in a character reminiscent of his popular action sequences.

Its TV commercial (TVC) would be a fun and celebratory twist, where Hyun Bin portrays an agent on a covert mission who commands a crew of operatives who later releases thousands of LazMall care packages for the public.

“I am very happy to be joining the Lazada family and connecting with fans in South-East Asia as LazMall’s first regional brand ambassador. I look forward to creating lots of fun times with the campaigns, starting with the 9.9 shopping festival. I wish everyone good health and hope you stay safe until we can meet in person,” the actor said in a statement.

Hyun Bin added that it was fun shooting the TVC, especially in exploring the creativity to demonstrate the efficiency, reliability and variety of products that LazMall offers to shoppers through a secret agent mission storyline.

The 9.9 event would not only bring together South-East Asia’s most popular brands and their favourite Lazada marketplace merchants, but consumers could also enjoy exclusive deals and offers via an exclusive curation of time-limited Brand Mega Offers and Flash Sale promotions from Sept 9 to 11.

Hyun Bin is considered as one of the key figures that drive the Korean wave or “Hallyu”.

He has starred in many successful TV dramas and box office hits, including “Secret Garden”, “Memories of the Alhambra”, “The Negotiation” and more recently “Crash Landing on You”, which garnered him accolades including Most Popular Actor at the 56th Baeksang Arts Awards and Most Popular Korean Artist at the Yahoo! Asia Buzz Awards.

Last year, Hyun Bin also won the Presidential Commendation during the 2020 Korean Popular Culture and Arts Awards.

According to Lazada’s chief marketing officer Mary Zhou, it was a delight to have Hyun Bin on board as LazMall’s first regional brand ambassador.

“With his expansive portfolio of critically acclaimed films and TV dramas, Hyun Bin is a familiar personality respected for his genuine personality and extraordinary dedication to his craft by fans all over the globe.

“This highly resonates with LazMall’s brand promise of authenticity, quality and a trusted online destination for consumers to enjoy a convenient shopping experience,” she said.

Home to more than 32,000 local and international brands, the platform has also introduced “LazMall Prestige” which features over 50 premium brands across the region such as Bacha Coffee, Bang & Olufsen, Elemis, Longines, Polo Ralph Lauren, Salvatore Ferragamo, Shanghai Tang, SMEG, with the latest addition La Mer.

Lazada also offers customers a bold returns policy of up to five times compensation across SEA and gaining access to their favourite brands through an intimate, visual storytelling experience.

Lazada’s mascot, Lazzie, would also make his LazGames debut — Lazzie Star — where consumers can transform him into a Super Star by levelling him up.

They are required to complete a series of daily tasks and special missions that will unlock exclusive platform and seller vouchers as well as Lazada Bonus rewards.
