KUCHING – A live streaming of the state-level launch of the National Month and Fly Jalur Gemilang in Sarawak, scheduled here at 10 am on Aug 16, will be held to enable the ceremony to be witnessed by all the people of Sarawak.
Chairman of the event’s main committee, Suwadi Guliling, said the event, to be held at the Sarawak State Assembly Building, would be held under strict compliance with standard operating procedures (SOP) and with limited number of attendance.
“We have sought the advice of the Health Ministry, National Security Council and the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee and they reminded us to ensure strict compliance with the SOP,” he said when contacted by Bernama today.
He said Sarawak Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg will launch the event which will be broadcast live on the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) Facebook application, Sarawak Information Department (JAPEN) Facebook and on the department’s TikTok account.
“The number of contents for the event is also limited with only the address by the Chief Minister, screening of a patriotic video and flagging-off of the Jalur Gemilang Convoy,” he said.
The Jalur Gemilang convoy will involve only 10 government departments and agencies, comprising the police, JAPEN, State Secretary’s Office, Sarawak Federal Secretary’s Office, RTM, Pos Malaysia, Telekom Malaysia, Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, Bernama and Malaysian National Film Development Corporation (FINAS).
Meanwhile, Suwadi, who is also Sarawak JAPEN director, said the department would organise a Selfie Wefie competition through its official Facebook and TikTok Merdeka on the TikTok Khabar Dari Sarawak JAPEN account in conjunction with the state-level National Month.
He said the the two competitions, which are aimed at instilling the spirit of patriotism during the national month celebration in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, offer cash prizes and will be launched on Aug 18.
