DEWAN Rakyat speaker Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun (picture) has denied a report saying he had sent a letter to Prime Minister (PM) Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin informing the latter that he has lost the confidence of the Dewan Rakyat.
In a statement today, Azhar said the news report by Suara.TV portal was untrue.
“I am hereby denying the news and I did not issue any letter to the PM as reported. It was fake news,” said Azhar.
Separately, Suara.TV editorial department also issued a statement stating that the portal has not published such news.
The statement included a screenshot of a WhatsApp message using Suara.TV’s banner which said Muhyiddin had received a letter from Azhar who acknowledged that the PM has lost the majority support in the lower House.
“The letter is to inform the PM that 121 members of parliaments have rejected his premiership and he has now lost the majority support to remain as the PM according to the Article 43 (4) Federal Constitution. He was asked to resign immediately,” said the message in the WhatsApp image, quoting a source from the PM office.
