Covid-19: 17,405 new cases, above 10,000 in Klang Valley

MALAYSIA reported 17,405 new Covid-19 cases as of noon today, with more than 10,000 detected in Klang Valley.

Selangor continued to top the daily new cases with 7,171, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 2,880. This is also the highest reported figure in the capital city to date.

Kedah also saw its cases remain high with 1,112 followed by Sabah which saw its positive cases surge to 913.

Negeri Sembilan detected a total of 863 cases while other states with more than 500 cases included Johor (767), Pulau Pinang (760), Kelantan (532) and Melaka (531).

Total positive cases in the country so far is 1,061,476.

The number of active cases also soared to 175,113, where 1,016 patients are being treated in the Intensive Care Units (ICU). Up to 529 patients are intubated.

The number of daily deaths remains in three-digits with 143 today, pushing the death toll to 8,551.–TMR
