Ku Li requests to switch seats in Dewan Rakyat

GUA Musang MP Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah requested to switch seats in the Dewan Rakyat away from the government’s bloc.

Tengku Razaleigh, also known as Ku Li, sought consent and cooperation from the Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun to relocate him to a different seat in the House near to the independent bloc.

“From the very beginning, I never supported or was with the government under the name ‘Perikatan Nasional’. I do not yet know whether other Dewan Rakyat members from my party have dealt with YB Mr Speaker (sic) about their seats in the Dewan Rakyat.

“No matter what they do, I gladly ask to move to another appropriate place, in line with the fighting spirit of Barisan Nasional/Umno, especially my voters, Umno members and Malaysians so that not in the least can be considered as supporters of this failed government,” he said in a letter dated July 26.

Last June, Ku Li had urged the government to reconvene Parliament before the Emergency ends and called for the public to sign a petition to push for the reopening of the Parliament soon.

He said the King, with the backing of the Conference of Rulers, had asked for the government to reconvene Parliament sitting soon, but several parties questioned the call made by the King and, therefore, disrespect the views of the Rulers.
