Syed Saddiq says would rather go to court than joining PN

Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman will be charged in the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court with criminal breach of trust (CBT) involving RM1 million as well as another charge.

According to the court e-filing system, Syed Saddiq’s case will be mentioned before Judges Azura Alwi and Suzana Hussin at 9am.

Meanwhile, according to sources, Syed Saddiq will be charged under Section 405 of the Penal Code with regard to the alleged CBT of funds belonging to a political party and Section 403 of the Penal Code over the alleged misappropriation of funds.

Bernama reported sources said the offences were believed to have been committed in 2018 and 2020 respectively.

In response, Syed Saddiq said in a statement last night that this is another politically motivated move to intimidate him in joining Perikatan Nasional (PN).

“It is in moments like this I am reminded why I joined politics. Truth will always prevail. I would rather go to court than join Perikatan,” Syed Saddiq wrote on his Twitter last night.

“Every time there is an important vote in Parliament, threats will come. In July, December, January and recently a week before Parliament reconvenes,”  he said.
