THE Public Accounts Committee (PAC) will resume proceedings regarding the procurement of the Covid-19 vaccine and its use against Malaysians on July 27.

Its president Wong Kah Woh said Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin and the Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz will be called to give their explanations accordingly.

“On July 28, the PAC will call Tengku Zafrul in the morning and after that, will hear an explanation from the Accountant General Datuk Dr Yacob Mustafa in regards to the same proceedings in the afternoon.

“Taking into account the latest developments on the procurement of Covid-19 vaccine during the six-month emergency period, the PAC argues that the government should provide a more detailed explanation to the committee considering that the scenario has changed since January,” he said in a statement today.

Wong added that PAC is committed to preparing a report on this issue and present it to the Parliament no later than the second meeting of the fourth term of the Dewan Rakyat session which will run from October to December.

On Jan 5, the PAC commenced proceedings in relation to the procurement of Covid-19 vaccine and its use on Malaysians by listening to explanations from Khairy and Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba.

Proceedings in relation to this issue uses the source of authority of PM77 (1) (d) Rules of the House of Representatives which allows the committee to examine any other matter that it thinks should be examined.

PAC said this is to ensure transparency in the procurement of the Covid-19 vaccines.
