GAS Malaysia Bhd, a member of MMC Group, has stepped up with another corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative by distributing essential household items to about 100 families in Kota Kemuning yesterday.
Previously, the CSR was carried out in person but due to the daily increases of Covid-19 cases, the household items were distributed through a drive-thru concept as a preventive measure against the pandemic.
Gas Malaysia group CEO Ahmad Hashimi Abdul Manap (picture; centre) said this was the company’s second CSR project in distributing the essential items to a people’s housing project (PPR) in Selangor.
“We are looking for several other places, especially where there are people who need aid most during these difficult times,” he told The Malaysian Reserve during a handover ceremony to the families living in Pangsapuri Sri Nervillia, Kota Kemuning, Selangor yesterday.
Last week, Gas Malaysia launched its first CSR initiative by distributing essential household items to the less fortunate communities in Petaling Jaya under the MMC Prihatin programme.
“Besides that, we are also in the process of contributing some amount of donation to three hospitals in Selangor, namely Hospital Serdang, Hospital Selayang and Hospital Shah Alam,” Ahmad Hashimi said.
To-date, Gas Malaysia has contributed about RM30,000 to Hospital Serdang.
Meanwhile, the donation for Hospital Selayang and Hospital Shah Alam will be handed over next week.
“I hope with the donations, the hospitals will be able to buy equipment and medical facilities.
“It is our gesture of appreciation to the frontliners for their endless hard work during the pandemic,” he added.
Also present at the ceremony was Kota Kemuning assemblyman Ganabatirau Veraman who had given his support to Gas Malaysia’s initiative.
