THE government has introduced an online registration at http://pikas.miti.gov.my for the Covid-19 Public-Private Partnership Industrial Immunisation Program (PIKAS) for the manufacturing sector.
According to the International Trade and Industry Ministry (MITI) companies that have previously sent their information via email before are recommended to enter their company’s information in the PIKAS online system so that the information is complete for processing.
Deputy minister Datuk Lim Ban Hong said PIKAS had received very high response and had helped support the acceleration of the vaccination rate for Malaysians.
“PIKAS plays a very important role in giving confidence to workers in the manufacturing sector to feel safe in the workplace. This program is also a pragmatic step to increase the company’s productivity as we adapt to living with this pandemic, ” he said in a statement today.
PIKAS kicked off in Selangor one June 16, mainly for the manufacturing sector.
It is a part of Phase 4 of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (NCIP).
Apart from Selangor, the programme was also simultaneously initiated in Penang and Johor which will focus on critical manufacturing subsectors.
The International Trade and Industry Ministry (MITI) said these subsectors are critical during the lockdown as they are part of the supply chain of essential products and services, as well as to support the smooth functioning of infrastructures such as the public healthcare system.
PIKAS received the nod from the Special Committee on Covid-19 Vaccine Supply Acces Guarantee (JKJAV) to be implemented with on-site vaccinations at designated factories and industrial locations.
Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar had previously said about 30,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccines had been earmarked under the programme for individuals who are working in the essential sectors of the economy.
As of yesterday (July 14), a total of 10,522 companies involving 903,244 employees nationwide have registered in PIKAS. Of these 101,117 had received the first dose of vaccination.
To date, there are 19 PIKAS Vaccination Centers (PPV) which have started operations in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Selangor, Johor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Perak, Kedah, Penang and Terengganu.
