MALAYSIA’s new Covid-19 cases reached another record high as 11,079 were detected in the past 24 hours.
The highest daily infection was previously reported on Saturday with 9,353 cases.
Almost half of the cases today were reported in Selangor with 5,263, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 1,521.
Negeri Sembilan also saw its new cases rise to 1,033. Other states with high number of infections are Kedah (497), Sarawak (472) and Johor (406).
In the past 24 hours, 125 deaths were reported, the second highest, after 126 deaths were reported on June 2.
This brought the number of total fatalities to 6,385.
There are now 96,236 active cases currently being treated nationwide, another record high.
The infectivity rate in the country now stood at 1.14, according to the Health Ministry’s data.
