Selangor, Grab offer transportation rebate for vaccination

The govt will also allocate a number of free SIM cards to Grab partner drivers to help reduce their opex

THE Mentri Besar Selangor Inc (MBI) has announced a transportation rebate programme for the public receiving their Covid-19 vaccination, regardless of age.

The transportation rebate is given for those who use the GrabCar service to go to any vaccination centre in the state.

MB Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said this programme, in collaboration with Grab Malaysia, is designed to help the Selangor population with their vaccinations during these trying times,” he said in a statement yesterday.

The Selangor government will also allocate a number of free SIM cards to Grab partner drivers to help reduce their operating expenditure (opex). The state has also signed a strategic partnership with Grab Malaysia to enhance the digital ecosystem and assist its people with the benefit of technology and digitisation.

Also present at the virtual signing ceremony were MBI Selangor CEO Norita Mohd Sidek and Grab Malaysia head, government and public affairs Ebi Azly Abdullah.

Through this partnership, Grab Malaysia will be directly involved in Selangor’s digitisation initiatives with the GrabExpress, GrabFood, GrabCar and GrabPay services.

According to Amirudin, Selangor’s collaboration with Grab Malaysia has been making a positive impact on the people in the state undergoing life in the new norm amid the Covid-19 pandemic that has yet to subside.

“This collaboration began last year when Grab Malaysia helped Ramadhan bazaar traders to sell online through GrabFood,” he said.

GrabExpress has also helped small traders in Selangor by offering 9,000 free deliveries worth RM225,000 sponsored by Grab Malaysia.

With a total allocation of RM551.56 million, Selangor is devising methods for economic recovery, financial and special aids to needy groups, internet services for students, and more through the Kita Selangor 2.0 Package.
