Azizulhasni, who is based in Melbourne, Australia, received his first dose injection there on May 26.

Malaysian National Cycling Federation president Datuk Abu Samah Abd Wahab said apart from Azizulhasni, another national rider, Muhammad Shah Firdaus Sahrom, will also receive his first dose of COVID-19 vaccine on the same date.

He said the duo, who had just arrived in Malaysia from Melbourne last Sunday, were currently undergoing quarantine at the Malaysian Paralympic Sports Centre of Excellence in Kampung Pandan here until June 19.

“(They) will leave for Nilai on the same day (June 19) to undergo final preparations at the Malaysian National Velodrome ahead of the Tokyo Olympics. They are both scheduled to leave for Tokyo on July 25,” he told Bernama.

Meanwhile, Azizulhasni in a post on his Instagram today, said he is looking forward to training in the country after completing the quarantine period.

He also thanked Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican for visiting him at the centre on Monday.

“Thanks to the minister and the team of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and not forgetting the National Sports Council, the National Sports Institute and all those involved in ensuring our safety and health are taken care of,” he said.
