Covid-19: Cumulative cases beyond 600,000

MALAYSIA reported a total of 7,748 new Covid-19 cases today, bringing the total positive cases to 603,122.

Selangor remained at the top of daily new infection with 2,612 compared to 3,125 cases yesterday.

However, Kuala Lumpur saw its daily cases rise 851 while Negeri Sembilan identified a total of 709 cases.

Sarawak also recorded an increase in the positive cases with 706 today.

Only Perlis recorded a single digit cases with eight.

There are 84,369 active cases in the country to date.

Up to 883 patients are currently being treated in the Intensive Care Units (ICU) with 459 are intubated.

A total of 6,624 patients have recovered and discharged from the hospital, pushing the number of total recoveries to  515,571.

However, 86 deaths were also reported in the past 24 hours, bringing the death tally to 3,182.

Meanwhile, the country recorded the highest rate of vaccination in a single day with 117,563 jabs administered yesterday, based on the Health Ministry’s data.

In total, 3,330,436 doses have been administered nationwide.

Minister in charge of the vaccination programme, Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar said that to accelerate vaccinations in Selangor, two new big PPVs  will be opened on Monday at Setia City Convention Centre and UiTM Puncak Alam.
