PRASARANA Malaysia Bhd chairman Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman (picture) has been asked to vacate his post with immediate effect yesterday.

In a letter dated May 26 from Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, sighted by The Malaysian Reserve, it was stated Tajuddin’s service as non-executive chairman for the company is terminated immediately.

Tengku Zafrul also thanked Tajuddin for his service in the letter. An authorised Ministry of Finance (MoF) spokesperson verified the content of the letter. “Yes, it is,” the spokesperson said, without elaborating on the cause for his sacking.

The letter of dismissal was issued two days after an accident involving two Kelana Jaya Light Rail Transit (LRT) line trains near the KLCC Station, which injured more than 200 passengers, with six still in critical care.

Although the MoF letter came just days after the LRT incident, it is not clear whether the two are connected. Tajuddin was appointed as the chairman of the MoF-owned company on May 11, 2020.
