There will be no electricity supply cuts in residential houses in Peninsular Malaysia that have arrears not exceeding six months until June 30, said Energy and Natural Resources Minister Datuk Seri Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah.

The government’s effort, together with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) is expected to benefit 6.96 million domestic consumers in Peninsular Malaysia.

It is a joint effort to help the people during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period, Shamsul Anuar said, adding that the Easy Payment Plan is also extended until Dec 31.

“Hopefully, this initiative will be able to help preserve the well -being of the people in the current challenging economic situation,” he said in a statement today.

On Dec 21 the government had agreed that no electricity supply cuts should be implemented to domestic consumers who had electricity bill arrears not exceeding six months during the period from January 1 to March 31.

Domestic consumers are also offered a six -month Easy Payment Plan from January 1 to June 30 to help manage their electricity bills.
