KUALA LUMPUR – Eight individuals, including two women, were arrested during a police raid at a condominium, believed to be used as a call centre for an online gambling syndicate, in Sri Petaling here yesterday.
Kuala Lumpur Criminal Investigation Department (CID) head SAC Saiful Annuar Yusoff said the suspects, aged between 18 and 40, were believed to be working for the syndicate and paid a salary of RM2,000 a month.
“During the raid, the police also seized a few laptops and handphones, as well as sim cards, all worth RM60,000,” he said in a statement today.
He warned the public against getting involved in such activities and advised those with information on the matter to channel it to the Kuala Lumpur CID Special Operations Room at 03-2146 0670 or the Kuala Lumpur Police Hotline at 03-2115 9999.
