Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) is working towards enhancing its fusion of the Internet of Things (IoT) and analytics technology as well as its utilisation of remote autonomous assets in its operations throughout this year.
Chief digital officer Aadrin Azly said the oil and gas company is also exploring various ways to capitalise on digital transformation to create new revenue streams beyond its traditional operations.
“We are quite excited to combine these two things to improve our operations.
“We are working with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to come up with an operations dashboard that will help us make faster decisions based on the data that we have gathered along the supply chain,” he said.
Aadrin said this at the panel discussion entitled “Embracing Agility and Innovation in a New Normal”, on the sidelines of the virtual AWS ASEAN Summit today.
According to him, the move will also help Petronas in terms of its sustainability in the long run as it works toward improving its carbon footprint, energy mix and efficiency.
“There are three kinds of portfolios that we are focusing on this year in terms of digital transformation, namely, improving our cost of operations, creating new revenue streams and ensuring sustainability,” he said.
Aadrin also said that the company will also be launching the Petronas Digital Academy soon to improve digital adoption and digital capability throughout the group.
“We are working with partners and have been talking to AWS as well to get them on board,” he said.
