MAHB chairman Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir has called on the government to make a thorough study and review of any forwarded proposal to carve out the Subang Airport from the national airport operator.

In a statement today, Zambry said  airports are the state -owned strategic assets and any steps in allowing the private sector to run the airport must consider multiple aspects, including security.

“I, on behalf of all the MAHB community, appeal to the government to review any intention to liquidate the holding of Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (or Subang Airport) to any private party,” he said.
The Malaysian Reserve today reported that MAHB unions have written to Zambry to support them in defending the high value airport from being sold to any private party.

It was reported that construction and property firm WCT Holdings Bhd had sent a concept paper to the related ministries to take over the operation of Subang Airport.

MAHB unions also urged the airport operator to terminate WCT from being MAHB business partner.

WCT is currently the operator of the Skypark Terminal (formerly Terminal 3) of the Subang Airport, through its unit Subang Skypark Sdn Bhd (SSSB).
