BMW Group Malaysia has introduced the new BMW 740Le xDrive M Sport and the locally assembled variant of the all-new BMW X7 xDrive40i Pure Excellence.

The new BMW 740Le xDrive M Sport is the latest addition to BMW Malaysia’s extensive portfolio of locally assembled premium vehicles, a testament to the group’s further investment in the local automotive industry in line with the year’s direction towards economic recovery.

“Our leading role in the world of premium luxury vehicles is not only underlined by the success we achieved last year. In the first quarter of 2021 alone, we have successfully delivered over 2,500 units of BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad vehicles, resulting in over 25% of growth compared to the same period last year.

“Our role as the market leader for premium electrified vehicles is also underscored by delivery of over 500 units of electrified BMW and MINI vehicles, recording a triple-digit growth of over 140%,” BMW Group Malaysia MD Hans de Visser said in a statement last Friday.

He said the company looks forward to shaping the mobility of the future in Malaysia with the new, locally assembled 740Le xDrive M Sport.

The German carmaker has delivered over 20,000 units of electrified vehicles in Malaysia since 2015.

The new 740Le xDrive M Sport is equipped with a three-litre six-cylinder petrol engine, generating a peak output of 210kW/286hp at 5,000rpm to 6,000rpm, and a peak torque of 450Nm at 1,550 to 3,500rpm.

It is also powered by a lithium-ion battery with state-of-the art battery cell technology and improved storage capacity that enables the new 740Le xDrive M Sport to reach 83kW/113hp and a peak torque of 265Nm via the electric motor.

The new luxury sedan records the century sprint in 5.1 seconds.

With a top speed capped at 250kph, the maximum combined output of the new 740Le xDrive M Sport is 290kW/394hp, with a maximum combined torque of 600Nm. The combined fuel consumption of the new luxury sedan is 2.8 litres per 100km of travel, while carbon emission is measured at a combined 65g per km. Power is transferred to the new 740Le xDrive M Sport via an eight-speed Steptronic transmission.

Navigational and infotainment features in the new vehicle arrive in the form of the BMW Live Cockpit Professional with a fully digital 12.3-inch instrument display and the BMW Navigation System Professional with a 10.25inch control display.

The retail price without insurance and the sales and services tax (SST) for the new 740Le xDrive M Sport is RM591,503.05.

With BMW Group Financial Services Malaysia’s Balloon Financing Plan, the new luxury sedan can be owned with a monthly instalment plan starting from RM6,558 (based on estimates of an 80% loan on a five-year tenure).

Meanwhile, the all-new X7 xDrive40i Pure Excellence retains the powerful six-cylinder in-line petrol engine, capable of a maximum power of 250kW/340hp and a peak torque of 450Nm. That results in a century sprint completed in 6.1 seconds.

Its fuel consumption is 9.5 litres per 100km and combined carbon emission of 218g per km.

Like the imported variant, the locally assembled variant of the X7 xDrive40i Pure Excellence is offered with the innovative Executive Drive Pro with active roll stabilisation.

The sports activity vehicle is equipped with the reversing assistant for safely manoeuvring out of a tight parking space.

The retail price without insurance and SST for the all-new X7 xDrive40i Pure Excellence is RM673,323.61.
