Ta Win Holdings Bhd via its subsidiary Cyprium Wire Technology Sdn Bhd (CWT) has entered a sales and consultation agreement to purchase a supply of electron beam irradiation systems for a cash consideration of US$1.03 million (RM4.24 million).
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, Ta Win said the agreement was formed with CGN Dasheng Electron Accelerator Technology Co Ltd for the project which would take place at its existing manufacturing facilities located in Alor Gajah Industrial Estate, Melaka.
“The establishment of the Electron Beam Irradiation Plant by the Ta Win Group will be the first local privately-owned Electron Beam Irradiation Plant in Malaysia,” it said in the filing.
The company noted that the plant can fulfil Malaysia’s local electrical wire and cable industry demands and needs to localise electrical wire and cable products in the manufacturing sector.
“The Electron Beam Cross-Linked Technology will also enable Malaysia’s local manufacturers to upgrade the technology content level of their products to contest the overseas rivals’ position in the international manufacturing sector.
“Besides, the Ta Win Group can leverage the technology and knowledge transfer from CGN Dasheng in the research and development in nuclear science and technology,” it said.
Under the sales and consultation agreement, CWT has agreed to purchase CGN Dasheng’s supply of electron beam irradiation systems consisting of a 3.0 MeV 30mA high-frequency high voltage electron accelerator system, under beam and transport systems as well as a package interlock system.
The consideration excludes the estimated additional financial commitment of up to RM20 million required by Ta Win and its group of companies to operate and commission the plant in the future, including civil work, secondary water cooling, installation platform for electron beam vessel in the machine room as well as tools and instruments.
