Yayasan Pelaburan Bumiputra (YPB) announced the appointment of Tun Arifin Zakaria as group chairman of Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) and Trustee of YPB effective today.
Tun Arifin was Chief Justice of Malaysia between 2011 and 2017 and Chief Judge of the High Court of Malaya from 2008 to 2011.
Prior to that, he had served in numerous capacities in the Judicial Office as well as the Legal Department of the Government of Malaysia.
In 1992, Tun Arifin was appointed as Judicial Commissioner of the High Court of Malaya, and two years later as High Court Judge of Malaya, after which he was elevated to the Court of Appeal of Malaysia in 2002 and the Federal Court of Malaysia in 2005.
He succeeds Tan Sri Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz who officially retired from her position as PNB group chairman on April 30, 2021.
She has expressed her intention not two renew her tenure to Prime Minister and Yayasan Pelaburan Bumiputra (YPB) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin upon the completion of her three-year term.
Meanwhile, YPB also announced the appointment of Datin Norazah Razali to the PNB Board of Directors effective May 6, 2021.
Norazah is currently Senior Advisor at Boston Consulting Group (BCG), supporting and advising businesses and organisations across South East Asia.
She brings with her over 20 years of strategic and management consulting experience specialising in business and organisational transformation, restructuring, growth-led strategy, talent and leadership development and governance
