The Perikatan Nasional (PN) is open to accept any individuals or parties that are willing to be part of the ruling bloc, but the acceptance will only be considered without any conditions, said PN secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin.
Hamzah was responding to a report of a news report, which stated that former Prime Minister (PM) Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad would consider supporting the PN, if the kleptocratic individuals, or leaders in the “court cluster” is not part of the coalition.
“Anyone has the right to join any party they want and PN is a party that can accept anyone who can follow the terms in our constitutions. However they should not impose any conditions.
“It is also freedom of expression for anyone to say if they want to join or exit any party,” the Home Minister told the press in Putrajaya today.
In an interview with Malaysiakini last week, Dr Mahathir, who is also the former Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia chairman said there are efforts to bring him to be in PN now, which is governed with a razor-thin majority support in the parliament.
Dr Mahathir said he refused as PN is still working with some Umno leaders who are being charged in the court for corruption, including former PM Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Razak, the news portal reported yesterday.
