Covid-19: 1,889 cases, Kelantan sees 100% jump in new infections

THE state of Kelantan has doubled its daily new cases as 226 were reported today compared to 103 recorded on Tuesday.

In total, Malaysia identified 1,889 new cases within 24 hours, with Selangor reported the highest case with 517. 

Other states with high cases included Sarawak (489), Sabah (142), and Kuala Lumpur (134).

The number of patients in the Intensive Care Units (ICU) also rose to 204, with 79 of them are being intubated.

Currently there are 16,696 active cases in Malaysia.

In total the country has 365,829 confirmed Covid-19 cases since the pandemic broke in January last year.

Up to 1,485 patients have recovered, bringing the cumulative number of recoveries to 347,780 (95.1%). However eight new deaths were reported, pushing total fatalities to 1,353.
