Selangor SIBS 2021 summit goes hybrid, offer inaugural medical expo

The Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2021 will be held in hybrid mode this year, amid the ease of restrictions movement to combat Covid-19 .
 
Invest Selangor Bhd CEO Datuk Hasan Azhari said the fifth SIBS this year, slated on the Oct 7 to Oct 10, will feature six sessions and that exhibition and conferences will be held both physically in Kuala Lumpur and virtually at  selangorbusinesshub.my portal.
 
“There will be two new components which is the seventh Selangor International Expo (Medic) 1st Edition and the first Selangor Industrial Park Expo, or known as Sparks, ” he said in his opening speech of the soft launch of the SIBS 2021 in Kuala Lumpur today.
 
State executive councillor for Investment, Industry and Commerce and SMEs Datuk Teng Chang Khim said through SIBS, Selangor will continue to open its door to investors, despite the disruption caused by the Covid-19 virus.
 
“SIBS 2021 will be a crucial part of the Global State’s economic rebuilding process to reverse the effects of the global pandemic,” he said.
 
Last year. Selangor again topped the list for the best investment destination in Malaysia, with a total approved investments amounting to RM38.7 billion.
 
Of the total value, RM18.4 billion is from the manufacturing sector with 324 manufacturing projects were approved, said Teng. 
 
Despite the pandemic last year, the virtual edition of SIBS 2020 attracted almost 178,000 online attendees from 54 countries. 
 
This year, the SIBS 2021 offers 840 booths with 15,000 trade visitors from over 24 countries over the four-day hiybrid summit.
 
The summit will continue its previous sessions of Selangor International Expo, Selangor Asean Business Conference, Selangor Smart City and Digital Economy Convention and Selangor R&D and Innovation Expo.
